Faculty Profile

Yu Wang is a tenured professor and dean of the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University, an IEEE Fellow, a recipient of the National Natural Science Foundation of China's Outstanding Young Scientist Award, vice dean of the School of Information Science and Technology at Tsinghua University, and dean of the Institute for Electronics and Information Technology in Tianjin, Tsinghua University.

He also serves as a part-time executive director of the 11th Council of the China Electronics Society, the chairman of the Youth Work Committee of the China Electronics Society, and the director of the National Electronic Information Discipline Construction (Promotion) Committee.

Professor Yu Wang has been engaged in the research of smart chips, high-efficiency circuits and systems for a long time. He has published more than 60 IEEE/ACM journal papers, more than 270 conference papers, and more than 24,000 Google Scholar citations. He has presided over a number of national and corporate joint projects, and won the first prize of the CCF Science and Technology Award for Technology Invention, the International Design Automation Conference Under 40 Innovator Award, the CCF Qingzhu Award and other honors. He has won 5 international academic conference best paper awards and 13 best paper nominations.

Professor Yu Wang has long been engaged in research on smart chips, high-efficiency circuits, and systems. He has published over 60 papers in IEEE/ACM journals, over 270 conference papers, and has been cited over 26,000 times on Google Scholar. He has led multiple national-level and industry-academia collaboration projects, and has received honors including the CCF Science and Technology Award for Technological Invention (First Prize), the International Design Automation Conference Innovation Award for Innovators Under 40, and the CCF Qingzhu Award. He has also won five best paper awards at international academic conferences and received 13 nominations for best paper awards. In 2016, he converted his knowledge into equity in Deephi Technology, creating a world-class deep learning computing platform, which was acquired by industry leader Xilinx (now AMD) in 2018. In 2023, he helped establish INFINIGENCE, forming a software and hardware co-optimization platform for large models, achieving industry-leading large model inference performance on over ten types of chips domestically and internationally.
