Weidong Sun, a professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University, graduated from Shandong University in 1982 and obtained a doctoral degree from the University of Tokyo in 1988. Formerly, served as a doctoral researcher at the Institute of Industrial Science at the University of Tokyo, a professor at the University of Science and Technology of China, deputy leader of the Information Acquisition and Processing Technology Expert Group of the National 863 Program, leader of the Agricultural Product Information Acquisition and Processing Technology Expert Group of the National Development and Reform Commission, member of the China National Committee of the International Digital Earth Society, and vice chairman of the Spectroscopy Imaging Committee for Earth Observation in the China National Committee of the International Digital Earth Society; and currently, director of the Remote Sensing Laboratory in the Department of Electronic Engineering of Tsinghua University, concurrently holds academic positions such as deputy editor in chief of the Journal of Remote Sensing, editorial board member of the Journal of Computer Aided Design and Graphics, and Intelligent Sensing Engineering.
Weidong Sun has long been engaged in research on the processing and application of remotely sensed information and digital image processing, and has obtained some research results with high theoretical and practical value. In recent years, has led or participated in 7 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 6 National 863 projects, and 2 National Science and Technology Support Projects, and published over 230 papers in top academic journals such as TIP, TGRS, Medical Image Analysis, as well as at top international conferences such as ICASSP, ICIP, and IGARSS, obtained or applied for over 23 national invention patents, and co-authored 3 books.
