摘要：In this paper we propose an adaptive media play out (AMP) algorithm based on history packet arriving rates for streaming music in best-effort time-varying networks. It evaluates and predicts network conditions and adjusts music play out rate to reduce playback interruptions. Instead of adjusting play out rate of every frame, it adjusts play out rate of selective frames in a time-slot to avoid big change in play out rate which will annoy users. Besides, we fully take the characteristics of streaming music into account and we propose a pre-cache algorithm which will uses the current available bandwidth to the best. We also conducted subjective quality tests to find out how changing of play out rate of steaming audio will affect user's experience and the results are quite useful in setting some key parameters in the AMP algorithm. Simulation results show that, compared to some other AMP algorithms, the proposed algorithm can provide a smoother playback of music with less playback interruption, especially the use of pre-cache makes the performance far better when play multiple songs in a row so it can provide the user a relatively smooth and gapless playback.
