Duan Yiping, an associate professor and doctoral supervisor at the Department of Electronic Engineering of Tsinghua University, is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He has long been engaged in the research of fundamental theories and key technologies of visual networking. He has proposed a new theoretical approach for visual networking that integrates intelligent computing and communication, including brain-inspired visual quality of experience (QoE) evaluation criteria, semantic-driven networked video coding methods, and multimodal semantic representation methods based on the object-attribute-relation (OAR) model. He has published 96 papers in important journals and conferences such as IEEE JSAC and TPAMI, and has won five best paper awards at international conferences such as IEEE Globecom. He has authored one academic monograph, and four of his proposals have been adopted as ITU-T international standards and two as national standards. He has been granted 43 patents (including four US patents), and one of them won the Gold Award at the National Invention Exhibition. He has led several research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, including the Distinguished Young Scholars Program and the General Program. He has been selected for the China Association for Science and Technology's Young Talent Support Program. As a key contributor, he has won the First Prize of Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award, the First Prize of Shanghai Technological Invention Award, the First Prize of Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award, the First Prize of Natural Science Award of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, and the First Prize of Technological Invention Award of the China Institute of Communications. He was invited to give a tutorial report at the 2022 IEEE VTC. He serves as an associate editor for the Remote Sensing special issue and holds academic positions such as the symposium chair of 2023 ICCT, the co-chair of the local organization of 2020 ICCI*CC, and the co-chair of the workshops of 2023 ICCC and 2023 IWCMC.
